5 Star Movers LLC, a Moving and Storage Company to Expand into South Bronx

The Bronx movers expansion complements the company's current moving and storage clientele, such as the Washington Nationals, by making the Bronx moving process easier and by shortening delivery windows for customers.

5 Star Movers LLC is leveraging their experience in both North Bronx and South Bronx areas to provide exceptional service to people who are relocating or are in need of secure storage. The South Bronx location will also include a warehouse expansion. The current warehouse infrastructure around West Bronx is 500,000 square feet. The new location will add additional secure storage in the local south Bronx area.

Mike Merlino, President and owner of 5 Star Movers LLC, spent the first 22 years of his career in the Bronx market before moving to the South Bronx areas. Mike will continue to be a hands-on leader in the new south Bronx location. CEO and co-owner of 5 Star Movers LLC, says he "…will utilize (his) experience relocating Fortune 100 companies, the U.S. military and the Department of State to help organizations streamline their international moving and storage needs."

Oturu scores 30 as Minnesota beats No. 19 Michigan 75-67

Jul 7, 2020

MINNEAPOLIS — Daniel Oturu shook off an injury and had a career game to help Minnesota take down another ranked opponent. Oturu scored a career-high 30 points and the Gophers went on a late 11-0 run to beat No. 19 Michigan 75-67 on Sunday. The sophomore center had 20 points in a dominant first half, and he continued his roll with six quick points after the break. But with 14:35 remaining, he hit the deck hard while fighting for a rebound. He stayed on the floor for nearly five minutes, clutching his left shoulder as a hush fell over the...

Bey scores 33, leads No. 16 Villanova past Georgetown 80-66

Jul 7, 2020

PHILADELPHIA — Saddiq Bey hit eight 3-pointers and scored a career-high 33 points to lead No. 16 Villanova to an 80-66 win over Georgetown on Saturday. Bey, a 6-foot-8 sophomore forward, hadn't been much of a 3-pointer shooter this season for the Wildcats (12-3, 3-1 Big East). He'd made only 21 and four of those came in a nonconference game against Ohio. He shot just 3-for-10 overall in a win this week at Creighton, hardly a sign he was about to bust out with a career game against the Hoyas (11-6, 1-3). Left open, and determined to shoot, Bey had...

Olympic champ David Gleirscher gets 1st World Cup luge win

Jul 7, 2020

ALTENBERG, Germany — Olympic champion David Gleirscher finally got his first World Cup luge victory, leading Austria’s sweep of gold Saturday. Gleirscher finished two runs at historic Altenberg in 1 minute, 48.150 seconds to hold off Italy’s Dominik Fischnaller by about one-quarter of a second. Fischnaller finished in 1:48.383 and Germany’s Felix Loch was third in 1:48.420. Gleirscher becomes the third different Austrian man to win a race this season. He’s 1 for 1 at the Olympics, after being the surprise winner of gold at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games. And he’s now 1 for 59 in World Cup races, getting...

Former UConn coach Jim Calhoun earns 900th career win

Jul 7, 2020

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Jim Calhoun’s 900th win looked like so many others during a Hall of Fame coaching career. He stomped. He screamed. He slammed objects. The only real difference is the sideline he now controls. The longtime Connecticut coach added another milestone Friday night when the University of Saint Joseph beat Pratt Institute 105-61. Now in his second season coaching in Division III, Calhoun joined Mike Krzyzewski, Jim Boeheim and Bob Knight — all former rivals and national champions at college basketball’s highest level — as the only coaches to coach at least 10 seasons in Division I...
