Kids Spanish Immersion & Enrichment Social Classes Aid Bilingual Parenting

A revolution in how children are taught Spanish is underway in California. Social teaching environments and bilingual learning bring new benefits for all participants.

Culver City, United States - August 10, 2018 /NewsNetwork/ —

California’s embrace of Proposition 58 in November 2016 opened the door to the reintroduction of non-English language teaching, most commonly Spanish, in public schools. Now imaginative education entrepreneurs all over the state are providing innovative ways for busy parents to immerse their kids in Spanish language and culture in preschool, after school and summer camp settings in an effort to make their children bilingual at an early age.

One of the most interesting philosophies emerging from the increased academic study on the effects a bilingual education has on children’s development is that social environments foster an almost unconscious learning of important language fundamentals. Young children very quickly grasp multi-language equivalence in numbers, colors, sounds and smells without tedious vocabulary exercises that are traditionally based on repetition and homework.

A new group of educators at Chiqui Social in Culver City CA aims to bring exactly this type of bilingual Spanish Immersion education to the wider Los Angeles area.

Owner Lizet Alvarez notes “One of the newest trends in public education is two-way immersion where two languages are taught side by side with the aim of functional bilingualism by the time kids get to Middle School. Chiqui Social helps develop those language skills in a fun, social setting.”

Alvarez adds “The first seven years of a child’s life is when their belief system is formed. Learning a different language can make them more aware of cultural differences. They also come to understand why those differences exist and the importance of respecting cultures different from their own.”

Chiqui Social is enrolling children now for all classes. The company’s goal is to develop a lifelong ability in children to communicate with people from other cultures, countries, and backgrounds and to expand their educational, professional, and social opportunities. Chiqui Social provides an ideal setting for gently exposing your child to one of the world’s most popular languages.

Stephen Curry supports women's game by hosting girls camps

Aug 16, 2018

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — Just like Steph, seventh-grader Amanda Kerner stood before a big crowd and knocked down shot after shot from five different spots on the court — 20 makes in 2 1/2 minutes, complete with a buzzer-beater. For one afternoon, Stephen Curry ensured that 200 girls in his camp had as real a chance as possible to try to be a little bit like him, down to the fancy dribbling work and competitive shooting drills he does daily alongside Kevin Durant throughout the season. Curry went nuts for Kerner's success. Her summer? Absolutely made. "It was the best...

The former Bayern Munich defender, who made 113 national team appearances and ended his playing career last year, says he "will do everything in the coming weeks to actually bring Euro 2024 to Germany." ___ More AP sports:...

North Korea Olympic committee vice chairman Won Kul U was asked about the combined basketball squad during his delegation's welcoming ceremony in Jakarta on Thursday. "Isn't it good to have a joint team?" Won was quoted by Yonhap, the South Korean news agency. "I think we should have...

Dozier ends Dodgers' skid with RBI in 12th against Giants

Aug 16, 2018

LOS ANGELES — It was looking all too familiar to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Another lead lost, another reliever buckling in a big moment. Only this time, after San Francisco Giants outfielder Andrew McCutchen hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning to tie the game, the Dodgers did not wilt and their bullpen did not collapse. Instead, the relievers came through with four scoreless innings that enabled Brian Dozier's sacrifice fly to finally drive in the winning run in the 12th for a 4-3 victory that snapped a five-game losing streak Wednesday night. "A big relief to say the...

Column: Suspend Urena for rest of season for plunking Acuna

Aug 16, 2018

ATLANTA — Ronald Acuna Jr. is good for baseball. Jose Urena and his defenders are not. Jose, take the rest of the season off. And while you're at it, take Keith Hernandez with you. In a nod to the bad ol' days when it was apparently acceptable to plunk a guy who was playing too well, Urena unleashed a 97 mph fastball to Acuna's left forearm with his very first pitch of Wednesday night's game in Atlanta . Fortunately, it appears Acuna escaped serious injury. The Braves said X-rays on his elbow were negative and results of further tests would...
